Chairman`s Chat
Hello, I`m Brian Watson, Chairman of the Mancunian Sidecar club, we were founded in the year 1978, throughout the years we were a big club with lots of children, but alas those children grow up and fly the nest, we now find ourselves as just a little family of bikers who like to do all sorts of events.
We do Smallwood, which is Stockport way, which is a Vintage steam rally with a section on motorcycles, this is on over the May bank holiday.
We go on motorcycle holidays together, we did France last year and this year... we had a great time.
We like to go to the Berlaar Rally in Belgium, which I myself and wife Sue have attended for many years, another great weekend at the back end of September.
We now ride after years of bikes and sidecars a V8 trike, why, because we can, we do other interesting events throughout the year, and we host our own camping weekend (see events), we try to think of interesting places so that those who choose to come can find places to visit which are not too far away .
We also host and organize a week-end away in a hotel each February which is also very well attended, but it`s the one week-end in the year that is for grown ups only, and it is also something to look forward to after Christmas and before the season starts.
You don`t have to have a motorcycle to join us, just an interest and a lust for fun, if it`s not fun then we don`t do it, that is our motto. We are a family orientated group, and contrary to some beliefs we do like children, we now take our grandchildren with us on some of our adventures., we are not ready for our horlicks and slippers just yet.
We used to have a big committee, but these days its just down to the four of us to put any events on, we have in our time put a full weeks holiday on as our rally but this is no longer viable so its now just the Sidecarnival Camping week-end, yes Sidecarnival was ours originally, we are the one and only.
